The Chieftain arrived in 2014 as the first Indian in history with a fixed front fairing and integrated hard bags — the machine that returned the reborn brand to the heavyweight American bagger class. A power-adjustable windshield, the Thunder Stroke 111 engine and a chassis that could genuinely corner made it an instant rival to the established competition.

In 2017 the Chieftain brought the big screen to the bagger world with Ride Command, then the largest touchscreen in the segment. A 2019 restyle sharpened its face, while Dark Horse and Limited versions split the range between matte aggression and polished elegance.
The real turning point came with the liquid-cooled PowerPlus 112: the Chieftain PowerPlus pairs the classic bagger silhouette with 126 horsepower and technology honed in King of the Baggers racing. The result is a bagger that looks like tradition and rides like the present.
